SAR imaging with no aircraft? No satellite? No linear stage? No problem!

 

This x-band imaging system was cobbled together over 20 years ago with surplus waveguide parts and uses a measuring tape as a ‘precision’ linear stage. This work was the basis for the coffee can radar course at MIT.
